About Our Practice
Avon Eye Care is pleased to offer a wide range of optometric services, eye care products including eyeglasses, specialty eyewear, frames, and contact lenses. Our staff is happy to help however we can. From your first contact with us to your appointment and your follow-up, we aim to make your eye care experience great. This is what drives us to provide you with the best care year after year! Our team of eye care professionals is experienced and friendly. We’re here to help all patients understand their benefits, schedule appointments, and fulfill their eye doctor’s orders. Our optician can give you guidance in picking out your perfect pair of eyewear, and our friendly office staff is knowledgeable about billing and benefits coverage.
Dr. Harneet McDermott
Dr. McDermott received her bachelor degree at the University of California–San Diego in Physiology and Neuroscience and went on to receive her doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Her education and training enable her to practice advanced optometric care. She is an active member of the Connecticut Association of Optometrist and American Optometric Association.
Dr. McDermott has extensive training and experience in the management and treatment of ocular disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts as well as primary care optometry including contact lens fittings.
Outside of serving her patients, Dr. McDermott enjoys spending time with her husband Derek, who is a Connecticut native having grown up in Ellington. She is also an avid sports enthusiast and does crossfit regularly.
Dr. Pari Shah
Dr. Shah joined the Avon Eye Care Staff in 2020, us as a graduate of the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. She is also a proud Husky, having graduated from UCONN with a Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences.
She completed externships throughout New England and has gained experience working in a variety of settings. From functional vision evaluations in young children to managing eye disease in senior veteran populations, she is ready to help you and your family with your eye care needs.
In her free time, Dr. Shah enjoys staying creative with interior design and is always working on some project around the house. Whether you’re an existing patient or it’s your first time at AEC, she looks forward to helping you see and feel better!
Angela
Angela joined Avon Eye Care in 2009. She is the practice administrator and in charge of insurance and billing. She is also prepared to help with scheduling and orders. She comes from a family of medical office professionals, including a father who is an optician. On her days off, she loves to bargain shop and spend time with family and friends
Sammy
Sammy joined Avon Eye Care in late 2017. He is our Optician and has been in the Optical field since 2015. Sammy started as an Optometric Technician and quickly became Certified, earning his C.P.O. He has years of retail management experience which eventually led him in the direction to learn the Optical Business. Each and every frame we sell is handpicked by Sammy to give our patients the best there is to offer. His unique sense of style and attention to detail will make shopping for glasses memorable and fun. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as traveling.
Tammy
Tammy joined Avon Eye Care in 2016. Tammy brings a great deal of office experience to our team. She is the welcoming face you will meet when you first arrive at our practice. She is dedicated to providing a quality experience to each and every patient. In her free time, Tammy enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is also an avid sports fan with a particular love for football and baseball.

Cathy joined Avon Eye Care in 2021. She is an Optometric/Ophthalmic Technician.
