Leora A. Berns, O.D.

Dr. Leora Berns, a licensed optometrist since 1986, is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists.

In 1992 she was appointed to the Connecticut Board of Examiners in Optometry and has served the people of the state in that capacity ever since. 

She is a member of the Clinical Skills Examination committee for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, helping to write the exam which tests newly licensed optometrists each throughout the country.  She also serves as an official reviewer of courses offered world-wide for continuing education. 

Among her numerous honors, she is most proud of the President's Award, which she received from the Connecticut Association of Optometrists in 1993, and the Award for Optometrist of the Year in Connecticut, 1995.

Prior to establishing her own practice in 1990, Dr. Berns worked for 4 years at a large eye clinic in Waterbury, CT.
